Jack Hamilton Bush

Jack Hamilton Bush was a Canadian artist best known for his Color Field abstract paintings, which employed a wash technique to create vibrating, flat combinations of color. Born on March 20, 1909 in Toronto, Canada, Bush studied under Adam Sherriff Scott in Montreal and was deeply influenced by the Group of Seven painters who focused on depicting the Canadian landscape. He worked as a commercial artist at his father’s firm, the Rapid Electro Type Company, while he was studying at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto under Charles Fraser Comfort.
