Alfred Joseph Casson

Alfred Joseph Casson was a Canadian artist born in 1898 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was known for his watercolour paintings that often depicted the landscapes of southern Ontario. Casson was a member of the Group of Seven and the Canadian Group of Painters, and he was influenced by Franklin Carmichael and the Group of Seven. His notable peers included Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, Arthur Lismer, A. Y. Jackson, and Frank Johnston. Casson was educated at Hamilton Technical School and Central Technical School. He received the Order of Canada and the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts Medal for his contributions to Canadian art. Casson passed away in 1992. His works are exhibited at places like the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
