A Yin

(Chinese, born 1970)

A Yin is a contemporary Chinese photographer best known for his anthropological documentary images of his home province of Inner Mongolia, China. A’s most acclaimed works are his black-and-white images of Mongolian nomads, often depicted as going about their daily chores and traditional way of life. The artist photographs in the Uzhumuchin grasslands, where indigenous culture has been less effected by the Han Chinese lifestyle, but is quickly losing its traditions. Born in 1970 in Inner Mongolia, China, A aught himself photography and sold his photographs to locals who wanted their graduations and celebrations documented. He has won several awards and published a 26-volume collection of books in Mongolian on the history of the place and the culture of the nomadic ethnic Mongolian people. He lives and works in Inner Mongolia, China.
