Johannes van der Aack

Biography
Johannes van der Aack was a Dutch painter known for his genre work, and specifically his paintingLa filatrice or An Old Woman Sewing of 1655. Born 1636 in Leiden, the Netherlands, van der Aack went on to join and eventually become deacon of the Leiden Guild of St. Luke, a guild which allowed trade to take place for various types of artists and craftsmen. Today, his work can be found in the collection of the National Gallery in London. Van der Aack died 1682 in his hometown of Leiden, the Netherlands.
