Arvid Aae

Biography
Arvid Aae was a Swedish painter known for his portraits of children and idyllic Italian landscapes. Born on July 1, 1877 in Jonhannishus, Sweden, he grew up in Denmark and went on to study under Gustav Vermehren at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Aae left Denmark in 1905 and traveled through Paris and Italy, where he completed a number of landscape paintings. These light-filled scenes were often based on studies executed en plein air during his travels in Tuscany. The artist died on August 12, 1913 in Ludvigslyst, Denmark. He was survived by his wife the painter Olga Harriet Aae.
