Alice Baber

(American, 1928–1982)

Alice Baber was an American artist known for her work in oil and watercolor. Her art, which is characterized by a focus on color and form, is associated with the abstract expressionist movement. Born in 1928 in Charleston, Illinois, she passed away in 1982 in Edgar County, Illinois. Baber studied at Lindenwood College for Women in Missouri and Indiana University in Indiana. Her works have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Guggenheim, the Whitney, the Metropolitan, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Georgia Museum of Art.
