About This Lot

La Primavera Fredda is an excellent example of the abstract and painterly work for which Sam Francis is best known. A bold aqua background sets the stage for rows of gestural squares that contain the artist's expressive splatters. Despite its grid-like structure, this large-scale work remains dynamic and fluid. La Primavera Fredda is one of the largest prints that Francis created.
