About This Lot

Damien Hirst has become one of the most famous living British artists. The most influential member of a school of artists originating from Goldsmiths, University of London in the 1980s, Hirst has become a household name. His work focuses on the fundamental elements of life, including death and love, which he expresses in controversial sculptures, installations, paintings, and prints. Where the Land Meets the Sea H13 is one of the artist's most recently released editions based on his oil paintings by the same name which were exhibited at Phillips, London, July 20–August 18, 2023. Inspired by Hirst's hobby of walking on the beach and drawing inspiration from the Abstract Expressionists, particularly Robert Motherwell's Beside the Sea paintings, the series captures the explosive spray of waves crashing on the shore.

This lot is comprised of Colliding H13-9, Blizzard H13-10, Faneel H13-11, and Doldrums H13-12 from the Where the Land Meets the Sea H13 portfolio. Please note that H13-9 and H13-10 measure 90 x 135 cm, while H13-11 and H13-12 measure 120 x 90 cm.
