Company History Art dealer and entrepreneur Hans Neuendorf founded artnet in 1990, bringing his knowledge and expertise to the art world at large. As a pioneer of the German art trade, Neuendorf had previously represented leading artists such as Cy Twombly, George Baselitz, and Billy Al Bengston, and in 1967, partnered with Rudolf Zwirner to open Art Cologne, setting the standard for the modern-day art fair. In 1992, Neuendorf became the main shareholder and head of the supervisory board of artnet, and closed his eponymous gallery in 1995 to become CEO of artnet. Management took artnet’s main subsidiary, artnet AG, public on the Neuer Markt of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 1999. Since February 1, 2007, artnet has been listed in the Prime Standard, the segment with the highest transparency standards. Jacob Pabst assumed the role of CEO in July 2012. With over 15 years of experience in the art world, Pabst has overseen the expansion and development of artnet, including the successful launch of artnet News. Today, artnet continues to provide reliable information and market transparency to an audience of over 2.1 million monthly users from over 239 countries and territories. As the art market continues to grow and change, artnet will always find new ways for people to connect with the art they love. |
